At Heights Drop-In Childcare, we provide flexible, drop-in daycare in Billings, Montana for families who need reliable, safe, and nurturing childcare—whether it’s for a few hours, a full day, or extended evening care.
We LOVE kids! It's a joy and honor to watch them learn and grow. We provide a mix of fun and structure whether its for the day, or an hour or two.
With over 30 years of experience in early childhood education, Melissa has cared for more than 3,000 children through structured preschool programs and flexible drop-in childcare. Melissa is great at recognizing children's individual needs and catering to their learning style.
Who We Serve
We support families needing flexible childcare in Billings, whether it’s last-minute care, part-time schedules, or after-school programs.
We take ages 18 months to 11 years.
We have two preschool classes ages 3-4 years old and 4-5 years old.
Daily Schedule
7-8 am: Breakfast and morning routine
8-9 am: free play
9 am: Preschool students go back to classroom
9 am: Children do cleanup and do a morning activity
10 am: Morning snack
10-11:30 am: Free play
11:30 am: Lunch Time
1-2:30 pm: Quiet time
2:30 pm: School kids begin to arrive, younger kids have snack
3:00 pm: School kids snack-time
3-5:30 pm: Free play, after school activities
6:00 pm: Dinner
Free play and wind-down time
8:30 pm: Closing time

What is drop-in childcare?

Drop-in childcare gives you the flexibility to use care when you need it without committing to a traditional full-time daycare schedule. Whether you need a couple of hour to run errands, a full work-day, or regular weekly care, we're here when you need us.

We provide care for children ages 18 months through 11 years.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are not required for regular drop-in care, but you are always welcome to call ahead to check availability.

Do I have to pay for days my child doesn't attend?

No! That's one of the benefits of drop-in care. You pay for the childcare you use rather than paying for a reserved full-time spot when your child isn't attending.

Do you offer evening childcare in Billings?

Yes, we have longer hours than most daycares! We are open from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm.

What if I need daycare regularly?

We have many kids that come for full-day care. When you have days off, you don't have to pay for the days that you don't attend.

What do I need to do before my child's first visit?

Families need to complete our registration paperwork and provide a copy of their child's current immunization records. Having everything completed ahead of time can help make your first drop-off quick and easy. Print the form here.

Can we visit before my child's first day?

Absolutely! New families are welcome to schedule a tour. You can bring your child along to see the space, play, and get comfortable while you meet our staff and ask questions.

Do they get outside time?

Yes! Especially in summer months, we visit a playground nearby.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

No, we take children who are still in diapers. We also can be supportive of potty training, helping them go regularly and transitioning to regular underwear. If your child wears diapers, you can bring your own. Diapers supplied by the center are available for an additional charge.

Do you provide busing for school-aged children?

Are meals available or do I need to pack food?

Yes! Breakfast is free, and lunch and dinner are available for $4.50 each. Snacks are provided at no additional charge.

What does my child do while they're there?

Our days include a mix of free play, structured activities, meals and snacks, quiet time, and opportunities to interact with other children. We aim to provide structure while still keeping the environment fun and flexible.

What if my child has an allergy, medical condition, or special need?

Please let our staff know before your child's visit so we can discuss their individual needs and determine how we can best and safely support them while they're in our care.
